There are quite a few Muppet, Sesame Street, or Baby Muppet themed invitations and décor available on the internet. You could stick to a specific show (like The Muppet Show) or do your own mash-up of favorite characters for your Muppet baby shower. After all, the Baby Muppets combined characters from both shows and Kermit is present in all of them. Who says you can't mix and match?
The color scheme for the Muppet baby shower is easy – just take a peek at any 8 piece Crayola set and you've got it. You can purchase plain tableware and tablecloths in these colors and mix them all together to set the perfect baby shower. The invitations can be printed out in these colors too if you like; just look for favorite prints on the internet (making sure that they're not trademarked) and print them out for your own personal baby shower invitations.
Decorate the walls with Muppet posters “framed” with cardboard cutout frames that have the details drawn on them in black crayon. You are going after a rogue's gallery, cartoon style. Have lots of crayola colored balloons around, and replace the plain string with colored contrasting ribbons. Have some push Muppets scattered around the room – on the gifts table, at the entry, and as the centerpiece to each table if you can.
If there are not enough Muppets for each table, have a low bowl full of crayon-colored gerberas brimming over in each bowl. Scatter contrasting colored curling ribbon curls, confetti, and sequins on the table. The same goes for the tableware: mix and match different colored plates, knives, forks, spoons, napkins and glasses at each setting. You want a riot of colors – just like on Sesame Street!
The food can be based on the show, too. Take a peek at this menu:
Veggie Sticks with Big Bird's Dressing – cut up some carrots,
cucumbers, celery, and sweet peppers into sticks. Arrange the vegetables
around a bowl of hummus dip garnished with a few sesame and sunflower
seeds.
Dorothy's Fish Food – fill goldfish bowls with a mix of stick
pretzels, popcorn, and goldfish crackers.
Elmo's Spaghetti – Spaghetti and Meatballs, of course!
A la Peanut Butter Sandwiches – make this childhood favorite
of peanut butter and jelly and cut into triangles, rectangles, and
circles.
Cookie Monster's Cookies – bake or order giant chocolate chip
cookies in honor of the Cookie Monster!
Of course a cake is in order! If you were able to find a picture that was not trademarked, take it to your local baker and find out if the picture can be digitally transferred to the cake. Otherwise, there are lots of Muppet sugar toppers that you can find to decorate your cake.
A game of Muppet trivia is the perfect activity for the Muppet
baby shower. The person that answers wrong is out and the Muppethead
left standing is awarded for her exceptional memory with a little
bag filled with candy. If you can fill it with candy that you ate
during your childhood, like Pop Rocks, Chupa Chups or Blow Pop,
Everlasting Gobstoppers, and Bazooka Bubble Gum, it may be the most
memorable prize you'll ever give out!
